Value Added Tax (VAT) is a consumption tax placed on a product whenever value is added at each stage of the supply chain, from production to the point of sale. It's collected by businesses on behalf of the government.
Gross = Net × (1 + VAT Rate)
Example: €100 + 20% VAT = €100 × 1.20 = €120
Net = Gross ÷ (1 + VAT Rate)
Example: Removing 20% VAT from €120 = €120 ÷ 1.20 = €100
