Age looks simple but has awkward edge cases: months have different lengths, leap years add a 29th of February, and "one year and 11 months" is not the same as "1.9 years". The calculator handles all of that using calendar arithmetic rather than dividing by an average number of days.
The calculator counts whole calendar years first, then whole months, then the leftover days — the same way you would say "32 years, 4 months and 9 days".

February has no 30th, so the month rolls over. From 30 January to 28 February is one short month; the result is 26 years, 1 month, 1 day.
In non-leap years the calculator treats the birthday as 1 March for the countdown, so a leap-day baby still gets one birthday every year and turns a "leap age" every four years.
From 1 August to 8 September is 38 days — useful for the 100-days and other early milestones parents like to track.
The tool counts complete calendar years from your birth date, then complete months since your last birthday, then the remaining days. It does not divide total days by 365, which would drift over leap years.
February 29 is counted as a real day. People born on a leap day are shown a birthday every year (on 1 March in non-leap years) and a leap birthday every fourth year.
When your birth day-of-month is later than the current month allows — for example the 31st in a 30-day month — the month boundary shifts, which changes the leftover day count. This matches how legal age is usually reckoned.
